Do you have a brother?

Here is the conversation that JP and I had last night. I had been wondering when it would happen and what I would say....

JP: Mom... do you have a brother?
Me: Yes... I have 2 brothers. Uncle Chris and Uncle Scott are my brothers.
JP: Oh. So Daddy has a sister?
Me: Yes... Aunt Kat is Daddy's sister.
JP: Are my brothers at school?
Me: No.. your friends are at school. You have lots of friends.
JP: Why don't I have a brother or sister?
*deep breath*
Me: JP, not everyone has a brother or sister. It's OK if you don't have one. You know what? When your mommy and daddy had you we loved you soooo much that we didn't want to share you with anyone else!
JP: Oh!  That's a GREAT idea!!!

(phew)

He liked that response and I must say that so did I! :)  ( and so did Jim when I told him about it)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! We are now at Lilley's Landing and JP and I are waiting for Jim to come up to "Ocho" from loading the boat and we're going out to dinner! :)

Happy/Sad

Happy JP... with Mommy:

Happy JP playing his favorite Leapster game... Get Puzzled:
Sad JP after Mommy tells him it's time to put the Leapster game away:

The last couple of days have been filled with yawns and a few tears over things that usually don't get any reaction at all. After Christmas let-down? Growth spurt? Both?  It's not like he's not sleeping... he even went to bed one night at 7pm and slept until 9am!  Hmmm...

We are leaving in the morning for Lilley's Landing in southern Missouri. Maybe a change of scenery will do us all some good!  How's this for fun....... New Year's Day we are going to a potluck picnic that the Ozark Anglers Forum is having. Hey Pumpkins... think the Patch times thousands! LOL They have a HUGE invision board but I believe the picnic will be low-key. Jim can meet some of the people on the board that he has been lurking on for so long! LOL

OH.. and just for fun, here's JAKE!!! He's happy!

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone! May 2009 bring much joy, health and happiness to us all!!!

Wii = Weeeeeeeee!!!

What's with the Weeeee? The Wii! We love it. A favorite of everyone's is bowling. Boxing is another great one. JP adores the Super Mario Party. It's amazing how fast they figure out the controllers! Here is JP bowling in action:

Look who's napping in the background. LOL!
JP posing with his Mii. Can you see the little guy in red on the screen? If you look closely you can even see Mommy and Daddy behind him. The Mii's are so fun to make!
We are having fun with our new toy. Who wants to come over for a Wii Party????

Christmas Day and more!

What a wonderful Christmas! To see the excitement and joy on JP's face was awesome. Below are some pictures from Christmas day!

Christmas morning... right after Santa stopped by!
Oh wow... a Batcave! ( he says it's a favorite)
Jumping for JOY! Literally! I'm just glad I caught it on the camera. What was he so excited about? A monster truck. LOL
Having some fun at Grandma's house! Kat, Kate and Me!
Kat and Me!

Phew. The last couple of days have been a whirlwind! Family gatherings, assembling toys, picking up trash, eating, organzing....  I think everyone is worn out! So what did we do today? It was back to the diet for me so I hit the treadmill first thing. JP had a skating lesson at 10 and we stocked up on some needed batteries on the way. Jim came home for lunch and surprised me with a Wii. WHHEEEEE!!!! LOVE it. LOVE LOVE it! We all do. Bowling is a favorite of JP's and JIm and I boxed a few rounds tonight. wow.. amazing how sweaty you get!  So Jim went back to work and JP and I went back to the skating rink for open skate. Came home for dinner and played with the boys on the Wii and now they are asleep so I'm catching up here!

Tomorrows plans? Skating at 10 and putting away Christmas decorations. And of course playing with new toys and the Wii. :)

What a difference a day makes!

What a difference a day makes! Yesterday JP didn't want to let go of the walker. Today....a different story! Way to go, JP!!!!  Look closely... he's starting to glide!

Falling down? No big deal. I can get back up and keep going!!! (He would fall down on purpose just so he could get up again.)

** for some reason that video won't upload. Sorry!**

I was so proud of him and he had so much fun! Friday he wants to skate during free skate too so we'll go to his lesson, go to lunch and head back for some skating with mommy. I better watch out! He'll skate circles around me now! ;-)

Skate School... Lesson 1

JP had fun at his first lesson of skate school today. He was pretty cautious though and it took him awhile to get moving. He always seems braver with me. LOL  The red walker-type things were pretty handy and it got the boys moving but the other 2 boys were all over the place. NO fear! JP had alot of fun and is excited to go back tomorrow.  I'm sure he'll make alot of progress all week!

Giving mom and quick wave!

He finally "fell" at the end. Not a big fall though. I think once he falls a few times he'll get the nerves worked out and really take off.

Can't wait to see what tomorrow's lesson brings!

Strange Night

Last night was a restless night for everyone. Jim is fighting a cold and so is JP and in the middle of the night JP started in with his coughing. He came downstairs and slept in my bed ( I wouldn't say he slept... coughed is more like it. He finally fell asleep after a couple hours) and Jim was wide awake in the family room watching movies. He does fall asleep around 8:30 and then wonders why he's up at 3am? Hmmm.  So when JP woke up this morning he was stirring a bit and all of a sudden started to cry that his right ear hurt. Uh oh. I was anticipating a trip to After Hours Pediatrics and after further conversation we found out that his ear "hurt" because the "spaceman" hurt it. OK.. he had been dreaming.  Phew. He still was coughing quite a bit today but by tonight it was much better.

Let's hope we all sleep well tonight!!!

Goodnight...

As I was leaving JP's room tonight I heard the following:

JP: "Goodnight Larry Johnson!"  ( KC Chief Figure on his dresser)
JP as LJ: "Goodnight JP... If you want to be a Chief, you have to be TOUGH like me!"

I wonder what they are talking about now?

You're not my friend...

Yesterday morning as I was getting ready JP was playing with some toys. I overheard him saying, "I'm all alone. I don't have anyone to play with... I'm lonely."  ( he likes to talk to himself sometimes) and I told him I was here and I would play with him.  He then replied, " But you aren't my FRIEND... you are my MOM!"

One of those sad/funny moments all in one.

Of course I tried to convince him that I could be both!!!

What to do...

Hmmmm... so Jim was off today and is off tomorrow. What would be a fun thing we could do as a family that we normally wouldn't do because it would be crazy busy.  How about some bowling? We practically had the place to ourselves (once the sr. league on the other end left) so we bowled 3 games and had a blast.  JP LOVES to bowl.  As much as swimming or ice skating? I think they are all a tie because he won't choose his favorite. LOL

A few pics from today:

Look closely at the scoreboard.... Who won????  Hee hee

I'm not sure what is on the agenda for tomorrow... possibly some ice skating? Depends on the weather. Jim said to plan on going to the emergency room if we do skate because he thinks he's going to hurt himself. LOL

Christmas Worship Videos!!

JP had fun on stage at his Children's Christmas Worship... you will see 2 different videos below... 1 video is more singing than signaling and the other is just the opposite. You'll notice that the girls next to JP who are doing both really got into it... They are in the 5+ year old classes.

Enjoy!!!  Make sure you pause the music on the very bottom of my blog so you can hear the children.

I couldn't get everyone on stage in the video... we were in the front and the stage was spread out and there were at least 50 children up there. Too cute!

Christmas Worship at School

JP's Christmas Worship was at school this morning. He had a great time and loved "performing" on stage. It was packed in the sanctuary too. They sang 3 songs and it was funny because he sang the first song but didn't do the hand/arm signals and the 2nd and 3rd song he did more hand/arm signals than singing.  The little girl on HIS right was quite the performer. JP kept watching her. He was in the middle of a bunch of kids from the Red Class which is the class he'll be in next year as a 5 year old.  I was proud of him and glad he had so much fun!

Getting ready to start:

There were about 40-50 kids spread out on stage and they all did great!

Hayden's bday party followed the worship and the majority of that time was spent tackling the other boys. They were playing football in the house and I'm just glad no one got hurt! He's practicing for his future football days.

Santa 2008.. boo on the Grinch

We got to visit Santa today and JP was so excited to see him. We weren't expecting an uninvited guest to show up... The Grinch. Green mask and all. You all know what kind of reaction that caused!!!  So the Grinch sat in Santa's chair until Santa showed up to scare him off. JP was not happy. He wanted to leave as soon as he saw the Grinch. He hid behind me and shook the whole time. Poor kid.  He said he wanted to see Santa so we stayed and when Santa arrived he scared the Grinch off. Luckily they had the Grinch go outside (this is our neighborhood bank) so JP would at least go and see Santa. He kept peering outside because he knew he was out there. Here are a few pics.... I didn't get any of The Grinch!  *scary*

Happy JP before we left:

JP running up to Santa and hugging him/hiding from the grinch.
Still on the lookout for The Grinch.
Santa pointing out The Grinch outside the window... promising he wouldn't come in. That didn't help.
The only decent shot I got. See the look of concern? He was not convinced he was gone.

So we left soon after. Of course as went up front to get JP's coat the Grinch reappeared outside the windows. Another scream from JP followed.  They shooed the Grinch around the back of the bank and we made our exit.  *sigh*  Thank goodness he loves Santa!!!

What he told Santa he wanted for Christmas:
Air Hockey Table
Batman Batcave
A dinosaur that roars and walks
"And that's it!"  LOL

He sure loved his Candy Cane!!!!

Proud Mommy

I had decided on Tuesday to go in to my hair salon today to set up and sell some merchandise. I took JP with me and I figured we'd last about 2 hours or so. 3 if we were lucky. Well.. we got there at 10:30 and left at 4pm.  And it was my idea to leave! Needless to say, I am so proud of JP. He just hung out and read his books, played with his Leapster, talked to people, etc. He was SO good. And what makes me feel really good  is being told from 2 different hairdressers that he is the most well-behaved child they have ever known!!!

I am so proud of my sweet boy. :)

Poo on Hasbro

How could they? How can a toy company come out with a toy catalog with an "exclusive" and then not have it in stock? And they don't know when it's coming... if ever?  So there are hundreds if not thousands of kids out there wanting "Terra Trackers" for Christmas.   "What? What are those? We don't have those"... Hmmm.. "I guess we shouldn't have sent out the catalog before we had them in stock." Ya think?

So in the meantime I have a 4 year old who talks about these "Terra Trackers" on a daily basis. He is convinced that Santa is bringing them. It is the ONLY  thing he wants in the entire catalog!

Mom tried. Mom called. And called. And called. Mom even called the customer relations line. And emailed them. Twice.  And what do I know? Absolutely nothing. I don't think anyone THERE knows!  "We don't know when they are coming. Check our website frequently as we update almost daily."   Uhh... OK!

*sigh*  So now my mission is to get JP's mind OFF of Terra Trackers and onto something else.  Poor kid cried when I told him that Santa can't make every toy that every child wants.  *sigh*

Practice Practice!

JP's children's Christmas Worship is coming up this weekend at school. They have been practicing some songs to perform for everyone. I know they've been working on Jingle Bells and tonight JP was working on another piece that even includes hand/arm signals.  He wanted to do a little bit for the movie so here it is!!!  (Scroll down to the bottom of this page first so you can pause the blog music!!!)

Do you think he'll be able to stand on stage without wiggling and jumping around? I guess we'll find out! Oh.. and since he was watching himself on the computer he left out most of the hand signals. LOL

JP Skates!!

JP and I went skating today and we had a blast! It took some coaxing for him to get out on the ice but once he was on he had so much fun. He kept wanting to go and go and go.... He even did a little solo skating!

Mom and JP having fun!
Watch out! Here I come!
Calling Dad to tell him all about skating. "I'm skating, Daddy! All by myself!"
Konked out in the car. Wouldn't you be tired after swimming AND skating? He had just gotten finished trying to convince me that he wasn't tired, either. Nice try, kid.

Jingle Bells

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells...

Love how JP is getting into singing again... just in time for Christmas!

Happy Sweet 16 Kate!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATE!!!

Happy Sweet 16 Kate! Hope you had a fabulous weekend. I know it was jam-packed and we are so glad we could spend some time with you!!!

The whole gang (Kate, Uncle Steve, Aunt Kat, and Grandma) all came up today to celebrate with Kate. We went to dinner on the plaza and did a little shopping, hit Twisters on the way home after seeing some Christmas lights and finished the night playing some Pictureka! That is a fun game... but it gets competitive! No one can beat Kate, either.

JP had a ball with everyone but he was especially excited to see Uncle Steve. Kate and Kat walked in but as soon as JP saw Steve he was hugging him. He HAD to sit next to Uncle Steve in the car and he even picked Uncle Steve to tuck him in when we got home. How sweet is that? I said to Kat, "poor Uncle Steve..." and Kat said, "He likes it and enjoys it because who knows how long it'll last?"   SOOOO TRUE!

You've got to cherish every minute. :)

Thanks for coming, guys!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATE! We love you.

Christmas Cookies!

What? Heather made Christmas cookies? I think Grandma Judy is rubbing off on her. ;-)  JP and I had fun today... He helped me with the cookie cutters and then did most of the decorating... and eating.

Waiting for them to cool down:
Nothing better than some icing...
Open Wide!
Hard at work decorating...
Cheese!
Seal of approval!!!
I know, I know... not the prettiest and you won't find these on Martha Stewart, but we had FUN!
JP sure likes them... he's eaten 2 trees already!
